Once upon a time there was a band. They were from Liverpool. They ran around England playing music and made a lot of girls scream. Soon, they went to America and played music and made more girls scream. Shortly thereafter, lots of other bands from England wanted to do the same thing and played concerts and on television while doing so. For episode 11 of our tribute to music played in large and small venues, From The Board, we turn back the clock to that time known as The British Invasion (or one of them, at least), when lots of bands who weren’t the Beatles suddenly appeared on picture tubes and theatre marquees. Some succeeded, others disappeared into kinescope history. They did play ‘live’ and the kids were there to see it.
